is it necessary to use genuine mazda oil in 2023 mazda 3 (2.0 engine)

No but you might want to stick with the dealership oil changes at least until the warranty has expired. Then move onto a good full synthetic oil and a good oil filter after the warranty is over. There are a lot of tests on you tube about oil filters.

I agree, the Dealer will use any excuse to deny a warranty claim. So it's best to use the genuine stuff while in warranty. So if something happens, you won't be stuck paying for an engine. Hope that helps! Jim

Mazda does not make oil. It is supplied to them by the lowest bidder. Just use a quality full synthetic oil and save your receipts. As long as you document your maintenance, they can't deny warranty claim.

That's true about the oil supplier, but be careful while under factory warranty as a dealer can still say it your fault then you get drawn into legal battle that you most likely will win cause of your documentations, but is it worth the hassle?

And expense? It's cheaper in the long run to just let the Dealer do the servicing while under warranty. Jim
