For size, you'll find what the manufacture recommends on the drivers door plate and in the owners manual. I'd move up a size, As you didn't say which model, I'm guessing it's a base that has 215/55R16. I might go to 225/55R16 to improve performance and economy.

I did that on my civic but make sure you get tires that have a good sidewall, the first set I bought when I started driving curves the tires had severe roll and handling was extremely poor. Now a stiffer sidewall will effect the ride but I would trade ride for handling any day.
