Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car would not start last week, so we changed the fuel filter and it worked for several days, now today it is doing the same thing.  It acts like it wants to start, but it doesn't.  Is it my fuel pump or alternator? Someone told me the fuel pump would just go out completely not sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.  I don't know what to do or check... I hate to replace the fuel pump and then it do the same thing.  HELP!!

It could be the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor.I have seen the fuel pump screen plugged with rust and stuff also. Have someone check fuel pressure. Make sure the fuel cap is tight.

Changed the fuel pump and now it only starts if I put gas in the throttle body and it only run for a few seconds then Cuts right back off and that's also change the inline fuel filter
