maybe transmission trouble? is there an electric switch for park?

car starts,can shift to all gears, auto trans. it feels like the trans. shifts into gear but it is still in park, it will not roll at all. does this sound familar?

There is no electric switch for park. Either the valve body in the transmission is messed up bad OR Maybe the differential section of the transmission is locked up - either way its $$$
