Is it normal that the brake lights stay on even after removing the brake light switch or does that mean the problem isn't the switch but the wiring it's attached to?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Brake lights stay on at all times.   Removed the brake light switch in order to get it replaced but even after removal the lights are still on, which makes me wonder if the switch is the problem or not

I am glad that an anomaly like that can made you wonder, do you think that if you are holding the switch in your hand that just might eliminate it from the diagnosis
