Drain battery after driving around town car just dies

How do I get my car to keep a charge I recently
bought 2 new batteries in the past month and they
both drained down  Can it be the red box thing  
next to my positive battery terminal? Please help

Yes, you may want to replace that ugly corroded looking battery cable end and add some dielectric grease!
