Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes the car sounds like it has a dead battery and cranks over slow and starts. Other times it is fine. If I start it with the battery charger hooked up it starts right up. Battery is 5 months old

Check the voltage with the engine running. It should be more than 14 volts. Check the voltage after sitting all night - it should be around 12-12.5 volts. If the morning voltage is lower, either the alternator is not charging fully or there is something slowly draining the battery. --- You do not want anything draining that new battery. A battery life is about 300 full cycles. Every night that your battery is drained, it uses some of that life.
