Adding gas

Asked by John Apr 28, 2009 at 07:21 PM about the 2003 Nissan Xterra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It yakes ages to add gas to this car. It will only accept a trickle before auto-shutoff. The mechanic told me the air lines were clear.

I think it might be your Gas pressure release valve, when you pump gas into your car the air inside the tank must leave, so as you fill up your tank with gas and the handle click, that's the pressure from the filler tube trying to get released.
