2004 nissan titan v8 seized up

Asked by GuruS81CQ Jun 09, 2019 at 03:55 PM about the 2004 Nissan Titan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Nissan titan that's seized up. ive taken the intake off and the valve covers off, took the serpentine belt off, and tried to turn the harmonic balancer to see if it turns still no turn. the guy that ive gotten it from said he was driving down the road and it just shut down and ive checked the starter, battery, and grounds all is good. ive taken the sparks out also and sprayed wd-40 into it still no turn. im not wanting to get a new motor to replace it with due to limited money at the moment. can anyone help me try tp figure out the problem so I can get this truck up and running again it will be greatly appreciated.

Is it seized up? No movement in engine parts, valves? Than engine may have locked up. Did it run without oil or overheat? Check coolant, oil, anything obvious? Start there. Is timing chain broken or skipped link?

its locked up no movement what so ever I took a breaker bar to the harmonic balancer didn't budge. I drained the oil and dropped the oil pan and literally a 1/4 of oil came out that's it. I don't know if the timing chain had broken or skipped a link I haven't checked cause I don't want to reset or screw anything up with it yet. so from what im aware of it seems by the lack of oil that came out of it he ran it out of oil.
