Could 215/40/17 tires fit on my 96 eclipse rs?

I'm just wondering. would they fit? would i need spacers? what effect would they have on my fuel mileage? thanks for the answers

Hey bro I have a 97 RS 5spd with 215/45/17's and I get upper 20s in mpg. Of course I drive pretty hard lol.

you would eather have to raise the car or put drop spindles on it,the drop spindles would be the way to go

I actually just put on some 225/55/17s for winter. There's no rubbing but I do gotta be careful hitting bumps too hard or it will rub lol

Hay as long as you happy with it,that is all that matters,watch out for them pot holes & speed bumps.
