Mitsubishi 3000gt transmission

The transmission in my 3000gt
will not shift into overdrive. I
was told that the problem is a
seal, but he auto parts stores
don't know what I am talking
about.

What seal? Or if it's something
else, what could it be

Im not sure about automatic trans. But there is a module that monitors trans. And there is a sensor that goes into back side of trans. On mine manual it has a sensor directly below the intake throttle body. Again Im not sure if it is the same for auto?
