Hi there i have a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant and i was driving it and the transmission started making a ticking noise when i tried going into reverse and then it would not shift gears. I had drained the transmission fluid and the fluid came out dirty and brown. I have not yet added more transmission fluid. Why is my car making a ticking noise when trying to shift gears. Also the car will not shift into any gear but park. Please help me. Thank you

You need to replace the transmission filter also. Hopefully it not to late because most of the time when transmissions starts to have problems like you are having transmission usually has to be rebuilt or replaced.

Also would like to tell you that if you do decide to give it a try and change the transmission filter add some Lucas Transmission Stop Slip when adding transmission fluid.
