should I replace a catalytic convertor in my 2005 lexus rx 350 or trade it in?

If you like the vehicle why not repair it and keep it. You might be able to save a few bucks on catalyst replacement by pricing this repair at a local exhaust or repair shop other than the Lexus dealership.
