i just had a new battery put in and hit a bumping the road and now my alarm won't stop going off. what's wrong??

The bump set off the anti theft system,remove key from car,then remove positive cable from battery,leave off for about thirty minute,s,then replace battery cable,get in car turn key to the on position ,don,t crank it,do this three time,s,then crank the car up.This should reset the system.
