after car sets over night if I start it and go it sounds like a dryer with sneakers in it then a mile down the road it quiets down. if I let the car warm up before heading out I don't hear the noise. when I go out at lunch time or leave for home after work I don't hear it, only when it sets over night.

yes basically, thump, clump as if something is slapping against the bottom of the car, I had everything underneath checked out and was told it was a motor noise, could be timing belt, valves, piston slap.
