My 2003 mitsubishi galant wont start

I put a new starter and was about to but the fuel
pump but a friend said it is the front ecu relay. Can
the ecu cauae my car to crank over but jus not
start??

I put a brand new battery as well. Ive had the car looked at and was told the fuel pump is good. Alt is good so it might just be the front ecu relay. Could that be the problem.
