Grand Marquis taking a long time to start, but not the battery?

Asked by Christopher Sep 23, 2015 at 12:22 AM about the 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my Grand Marquis Mercury worked well has low miles and then for about
3-4 days has been taking longer and longer to start when I turned the igntion
key...it was sluggish to turn over and felt like it didn't have enough power to
turn over and I just figured I needed a new battery.  Eventually it didn't start, so
I bought a battery and switched it over.  Attached it with Positive and Negative
lined up the same way and when I turned on the ignition I lost all electrical
inside the car.  Any suggestions on either problem?  Cheers

If you have nothing at all, no lights no power, not turning over then something may have come off when you put in the new battery in or came lose...check all of your connections...
