my 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis heater blows cold air

This could be NOT so good news....are you overheating....does the temperature go anywhere but right in the middle? There are a couple of factors here the air-flap actuator may not be working....the heater core may be choked with corrosion....the fan may not be blowin'.....the diverter valve for the heater may have a broken cable....need to know more specifics on where to begin lookin'...thank you~
