Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, unfortunatly the engine of my grand marquis 2004
seized due to driving without engine oil. I took it to the
mechanic and as per him it is better to swap the engine
rathar than repairing the current one.

Well i have no idea if the existing one can be repaired or not
and if it is better to to swap engine or repair the exisitng
one. The new engine is costing me similar charges from
everyone. The issue is that saying they have a very clean
engine and it is for upper model from 2004. As i know that
from 1999 - 2009 (I Think) have the same engine and i am
worried that someone will just charge me and will fit an old
model engine.

So kindly help me out and let me know how can i
differenciate what model is that engine belong to. If it is for
2004 or an upper or lower model.

Hi LX30215 Thanks for prompt reply. Actualy all of them are saying that it is upper model but you cant rely on what they are saying. At the end of the day lower models engines are cheaper hence to make more money they might install the lower models. I dont want to be cheated hence i requested expertise from someone here. As you mention that all years are same size so there will be no way for me to know what model engine they will be putting in.
