New short block

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, a new short block might help with less oil
consumption, but how does it affect resale
value of the car?

One year old car and needs a new engine! Gotta love Subaru!

I don’t know much about cars, other than that I was duped into buying a $40,000 lemon, but I can’t see how it can possibly have any decent resale value, even if it does get a new short block. Is anyone having trouble with the 2019 MT Foresters yet? What about the Imprezas? Is this largely a Forester issue?

Subaru's don't seem to have a resale value problem but trade in value would be low compared to what you paid for it.

Thanks, Jim. Did buy it new. Unfortunately am in Canada. Don’t think the Lemon Law applies here.

MY 2018 6SPD is currently getting a shortblock done at 36,000 miles. i had to fight S.O.A for almost a year to get it done even with multiple dealership trips since 1800 miles. i had to threaten a lemon law lawyer unfortunately and may still need one, if the damage to my heads is too far gone and they wont wanna do them. i went from a 98 to 18 thinking life would be good, instead im stuck with a car i havent been able to drive for weeks. to my understanding it wont effect resale/trade in, because im trying to trade mine once i get it back. im a lil negative equity from my lease at this point but to my understanding the "sweet age" of good to bad value ratio is around 3 years
