My 1993 Ford Escort 1.9 litre 5 speed manuel transmission stalls when put into neutral

Runs fine but when I come to a stop and put it into neutral it dies.

You could have a vacuum leak or the idle air bypass on the throttle body could be stopped up with carbon or failing.
