There is a vapor coming from my vents and defroster,smells like coolant, but my temp gage reads normal like allways

Your heater core replacement should not cost more than $300. If you don't need the heater right now, you can bypass it by pulling the inlet and outlet hoses off and clamping them to a straight piece of copper pipe until you want to fix it permanently. This just keeps it from leaking inside the car and smelling bad.
