01 Lincoln town car with squeaking noise rear

Asked by Jakemarandi Jul 09, 2015 at 03:13 PM about the 2001 Lincoln Town Car

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 01 town car that is making a
squeaking and slight thumping noise from
the rear left wheel area.  It starts after
driving a little bit and happens when turning
right then straightening out. Seems to
speed up with wheel speed and stops with
braking.

Take a look at the rear wheel bearing...

If the wheel bearing is okay take a look at the drive shaft u-joints. They can make some strange noises and these noises sometimes are difficult to pinpoint.
