Strip, tin, place heat shrink over one side of the connection you are making and pull it back away from the joint you are about to make, form a hook on both ends or the wire, hook the two wire ends together, squeeze hooks shut, solder, move heat shrink over the new joint and heat the shrink tubing so it forms a tight connection over the splice - done.
