why would dealership not honor price posted on cargurus

Stick around, you'll see this is one of the bigger complaints about dealerships on this site. Not honoring advertised prices or bait and switch tactics is something a lot of dealerships have engaged in for a long time.
Dealers set the price. CG's has nothing to do with ad content.
This is crap. Cargurus should restrict dealers who are not honoring price. Happened to me today.... Thank you for wasting my time Cargurus for not regulating your vendors. Happened to me today. Dealer told me there will be 2 more posted that we are not going honor either....

GuruB5BNY-You can always send a complaint to the State attorney generals office or Secretary of state.
They would not honor the price because they said the vehicle is posted automatically by their process as soon as it ships. The vehicle was ordered in by a customer and they could not offer that price.
