Remove engine cover on 2003 Town Car when no regular nut is there?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No nut is there, but some round thing with no evident edges.  Has a tiny center
post, but nothing moves or gives an edge/spot to catch onto or twist!  Ford
was determined to reserve access to its dealers, it seems.

It just pops off and the rubber grommets hold it in place.

Darned center is hard to see unless yr a giraffe. Found finally a square hole that fit an extension end, and that could unscrew the round device/fastener. Some hidden catches, probably the grommets the gentleman mentioned, held but not too tight, and the cover lifted off. Now to swap out the thermostat..... Thank you.
