2003 Lincoln Navigator overheat

I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator with 104k miles on
it.  It was 95 degrees so I turned on the air, after
driving about 20 minutes my check engine temp
came on.  I glanced over and it was in normal
range.   I continued to drive it, I was less than 5
min from home.  I got stopped at a light, idling my
temp gauge went into red.  When I started to
accelerate the temp gauge when down some.  Had
it taken to a mechanic wanted to charge me 6k
said it had blown head gasket.  Had it towed to a
different mechanic so far he has replaced clutch
fan, new plugs, new thermostat.  It won’t over heat
idling but when driving after about 20 minutes with
air on.  Today he put a gauge on it to check
radiator pressure he said was at 14.  Any ideas? I
can’t have someone keep guessing at this.

From the description, you had your thermostat replaced. This involves replacing the coolant. Whoever replaced the coolant did not properly bleed the air out of the system so you have an air bubble trapped some where. One test is when you notice your temperature climbing, stop and park. In park hold the accelerator down a bit to keep the RPM between 1000 and 1500. After a minute or so the temperature should drop. If so, then it’s an air bubble in the cooling system and system just needs bleeding.
