brakes kill engine power

Asked by GuruDRLQQ Sep 15, 2017 at 10:45 AM about the 2016 Volkswagen Passat

Question type: General

I am a two-feet driver, left on the brakes and right for the accelerator.
While driving, city or hwy., if I apply the brakes while also applying the accelerator the engine stops giving power. When i take my foot off of the brake pedal, it takes up to 2 seconds for the engine to respond, why

This is part of your ABS and module system. The vehicle thinks you are trying to stop forward motion therefor cutting off the power. Its a safety feature. The by releasing both, the vehicle is in a quick "reset" picking up the power again.
