1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee dies when i take my foot off the pedal

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Yesterday I tried to turn on my car and it was just dead just a clicking noise(i purchased a new alternator recently so i know its not that but i was told i had a bad battery). I tried to jump it but it wouldnt turn on completely then i left the car for a bit then i tried to turn it on again and it would turn on but the second i took my foot off the pedal the car would turn off. The next day my friend brought me a battery and the same thing would happen i would turn on the car and the second my foot came off the pedal the car would turn off. I think it might be a sensor for the car but that doesnt explain the battery can anyone help?

you may have a short in the throttle position switch, and something pulling voltage from the battery overnight, two different issues, or the pcm is acting up doing it all

Drive the vehical with two feet. it needs to relearn where idle is. You can also start eng. and hold at high idle for a little while. then very slowly allow it to come down to idle.
