the check gauges light means one of the gauges on the dash is operating normal. once you fix your battery from dieing it should go off.

You can take it to an auto parts store, like Advance Auto, and they will use a device to check why the light may be coming on. Write down the "fault code" they give you. They should be able to tell you exactly what that code means. I have never been charged by Advance Auto for this service. I usually go back to them to get the parts. It also helps to let your mechanic know what fault code was detected.
