I am having trouble removing the ignition coil on my 2001 jeep cherokee. The wiring harness will not pull of, i slid a red piece to the side but still will not pull out.

There is a little clip holding the harness plug on the coil which needs to be removed so be careful. Once you remove the harness plug remove the small bolt in the head holding in place and then twist it until it lifts out. If it's difficult to twist you might need a pair of vise grip pliers or channel locks to pull it out. I have found that when I install a new coil and plug boot I will put a very small amount of nickel anti seize on the gasket area which will keep it from sticking should it ever need to be removed in the future. Be mindful that a very small amount of anti seize will go a very long way.

i agree had to do mine not too long agon be sure not to bust any clips depending on your year they might not have them like mine if thats the case you can makeshit one using a zip tie

yes there was a red clip that slid to the side, i finally got it off and replaced the ignition coil. Unfortunatly, jeep is still having multiple cylinder misfire. I am going to try checking the injectors later today. Thanks for the response, any other suggestions would be appreciated. I have already replaced the plugs, fuel pump, and crank position sensor. The jeep runs ok but cranks over alot before starting, plus the misfire code.

Check this out, you can get a noid light to check the electrical pulse on each cylinder for injector operation. The local auto supply sells them, you don't need to buy the entire kit, just the one for your truck. This will tell you if the injector is getting the correct pulse and the light will flash when you disconnect the plug and push the noid light in it. Try that because it's much cheaper.

I have a 2002 cheep Cherokee I also slid the orange slide but the wire harness does not come off I don't won't to brake it wat should I do

I accidentally broke the red clip on my ignition coil and can't figure out how to get it off now. Any suggestions?
