Gas gauge

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put approximately $50 worth of gas in my
tank and the gauge did not move from
empty.... The next day when I got into the
vehicle it read full ..as I drove it it went
back down to empty then stayed at a
quarter of a tank I have a 2005 Jeep grand
Cherokee Laredo what seems to be the
problem does anyone know ?
