Is buying a 2014 Mazda 6 with 162,000 miles a bad idea?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Are the cars designed to last that long without needing major repairs?

Obviously it lasted that long. The real question is how long do You need it to last? If you are getting a loan you need to factor in how many miles a year you drive And the term of the loan. If you drive 15,000 miles a year and you have a 4 year loan the car will probably have major problems before the loan is paid off.

As long as it's been taken care of as needed, many cars will last well into the 200,000s for example, I'm currently riding in an 02 grand caravan making my way across the country with 209,752 miles. My last vehicle was a 97 expedition and had 259,850 miles on it and ran better than some of the newer cars/trucks sitting on the lot....only sold it because I needed the money
