Can I disable the factory alarm?

Asked by Nicole May 27, 2016 at 02:40 PM about the 2013 Dodge Avenger

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2013 Dodge Avenger. My keyless entry is on the
fritz. It works sometimes then other times not. When
I unlock my car door with the key the alarm goes
off, when I start the car it stops but it's really
annoying especially in the morning when I'm leaving
for work and it bugs the neighbors. Is there any way
I can stop the alarm from going off when I unlock
the door manually?

Yes, locate the Relay / Fuse for the ANTI THEFT system under hood in power distribution box unplug it. KINDA funny, have you ever seen a person look up or care... LIKE OH, a car thief.. NO its only If our Dumb alarm goes ON by accident.

Oh what fun, I have been dealing with having the horn go off intermittently in my 2013 dodge avenger for two weeks now. Have had the batteries in my keys replaced and the battery in my car. took it in to have electrical checked as changing them didn't work and found it was the power distribution block, that fuse box under he hood, 1200.00 for this piece of equipment. In the mean time they unhooked the horn and alarm, you would think this is good but Dodge has a bigger surprise for me, if the horn and alarm are not plugged in the car won't start. yup had to plug them back in to get it to run. now I am on the search for a block that isn't going to break the bank. Good luck all

Have an '08 Avenger with the alarm setting itself off every 3 minutes. Found the trunk lid is full of water and with the colder weather, it is telling the system the trunk is being tampered with. It has stopped for now, but more rain is on the way. I plan to dry it out and seal around the 3rd brake light and spoiler and anywhere else water can enter.

Just lock your doors manually. The old school way. Alarm will not sound.

I know this is an old post but my 2012 avenger is doing the same as Nicole's from the top post 4 years ago. Did you ever find a resolution. Even if I manually lock the doors the alarm still goes off 90% of the time. Very annoying. Along with other random electrical issues. Dome lights turn on if I use my right blinker, windshield wipers come on whenever they want.
