We have the same issue. The instructions are written right, but they don't work. I took to the dealer & the tech couldn't get it to work either. He said likely "computer diagnostics needed". for $99 to tell me what's wrong is too much to pay. Honda needs better techs or better manual writers. This compass issue is not an isolated problem. The internet is filled with cars with this problem.

It did not work in drive, only if I held down the setup button in park would the calibration screen come up. Also if .Cal is onscreen your already in calibration so holding the button did nothing. Had to go donuts first. When compass was solid then park. Then hold down setup button.

If your compass reading is blinking and it says CAL. You are in calibration mode. Drive your vehicle in small circles until it comes out of CAL. Mode. Your compass should read correctly. If not now proceed with holding setup down and calibration mode will come back up as described in your owner's manual. Cheers!

I have the same problem with the setup button not entering calibration mode. Has anyone figured out why and what is the fix?

I have the same problem with 2012 CRV. I'm going to replace the compass module and see if that works. I will update.

Got it! The trick is to not start it all the way. Turn key to first click wait a moment (put your seatbelt time) then start! Stopped the blinking! It worked for me!

I have a 2014 and whenever I restart my car it resets itself. I should have to sit and put my car from off to accessory 12 times for it to calibrate right.

If your CRV compass is flashing CAL and you cant get into the calibration screen. Do this, Turn key from position I to position II 12 times. then start car and do 2 to 3 circles this should fix the compass from flashing CAL and will allow compass to work again. It seems if the Compass has been in Cal mode for a while, it seems to lock up and not recognize going in circles or allow you to go to Calibration mode when pressing Setup for 10 secs.

Just pull your rear headliner left area down a hair and disconnect the blue connector off the module and the light will disappear

This is how I reset the blinking compass on my 2012 CRV: With the vehicle in park, I turned the key from accessory to on (Did not start engine) 5 times. Each time, the screen was blinking a different direction (N CAL., E CAL., S CAL., W CAL.). The fifth time I turned the key from accessory to on, "CAL" was not blinking any more. At this time, I drove the CRV a full circle and the reset was complete.

I did as Guru9CNJ54 said "turned the key from accessory to on (Did not start engine) 5 times. Each time, the screen was blinking a different direction (N CAL., E CAL., S CAL., W CAL.). The fifth time I turned the key from accessory to on, "CAL" was not blinking any more. At this time, I drove the CRV a full circle and the reset was complete" The above instruction worked for me (the CAL light stopped blinking and displayed correct direction), however, after driving for 1 block, the CAL light was blinking again. I hate to do the "above" again and again. Do you have any idea how to fix it "permanently" ?
