Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can not get engine temp to good operating temp. Barley goes over first three marks on temp gauge. In sufficient heat for winter time. Change thermostat numerous times. Using a 190 degree stat.

Thank you for reply. On advice from a mechanic friend I installed a 205 stat. This is Alaska and he claims his truck handled it well year around with a 205. Getting ready to fire up for test drive.

I’m aware of that but even with full winter front on and a 205 start it all most makes to the half way mark on gauge. Checked temp with a laser temp tool and it read 180. Thanks for your input though.

Still struggling with lack of sufficient engine heat. Have the 205 stat in place, FULL winter front on, and sufficient coolant. I had this motor overhauled in 2014. Possible the shop put something on backwards or wrong part? They did install wrong cam shaft resulting in engine having to be removed and rebuilt a second. (no oil was getting to lifters.) -35 here in North Pole tonight. Just went run an errand, NOT to comfortable in cab but warm enough to not see my breath or fog up windows.
