2012 VW Passat

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 80,000 miles on my 2012 Passat, am the only owner and have had the recommended service checks done. At the last check, 80,000, the check engine light came on, had the camshaft replaced, the oil pan replaced, and still cannot determine why this light is on.  Now the dealership says I need a new engine due to low oil pressure. Help

If you need an oil pump it most likely will be less expensive than a whole new engine. They have some rebuild kits for those pumps if you DIY. The timing chain or belt hopefully was checked after the previous work but at that mileage it should have been at least inspected including the guides, etc.. Would also see what codes are stored on the computer. Good Luck!
