Can you tell if Engine was Replaced?

Asked by Nathan Oct 10, 2020 at 11:34 PM about the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: General

I have a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country van that had its engine replaced with a rebuild earlier this year.  I am thinking about trading it in in a month or so but was wondering if its my responsiblity to tell the dealer that the engine was replaced or can the tell visually by looking at the engine or with a test on the computer system.   I have driven it 5000 mile since the replacement with no issues.

You won't get anymore money from the dealer for the engine. You can tell him or not, your choice.

I just want to know if they can tell and be worried and not take it as a trade in.

I don't know why they would not take it. Bring your documentation with you and see if you can get top price for it.

Your worrying for nothing, some owners trade in cars with minor to major damage and hope the dealer doesn't find out in the 10min evaluation.
