why does my 96 explorer dies out and sputters when turning or coming to stop

Look for a vacuum leak. Clean the throttle body. Has the vehicle been tuned in 21 years. Check the resistance on the plug wires and see if within specs. Are you getting any codes? Check the coil with a multi meter and see if within specs. Etc. It will be a process of elimination.
