starter repair

Asked by tonybcoa Jan 06, 2007 at 03:56 PM about the 1996 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

where is starter located on v8 engine

1 Answer

I believe Tony, that on all the Ford V8 engines of that era the starter motor is mounted on the bell housing. But a quick trip to your local library will probably turn up a Chilton's for that model year. That Chilton's will have step-by-step instructions for removing (and replacing) the starter. If your library doesn't have it check the local book and parts stores or search Amamzon.com or ebay. Good luck!
