Lose of power and overheating

My Ford Focus seems to lose acceleration
while driving along at 60mph. Also has a
metallic sound when revving the engine to
accelerate. High temp warning appeared on
dash board and smoking from the bonnet.
Looks like when I top up the water it may be
leaking from underneath the car... help!!

Yup, sounds like you have a leak. Could be anything from a heater hose to a leak from the engine. You will need to determine where the coolant is leaking from. Difficult to tell you where since we cannot see the car. Overheating can be caused by several issues. Low on coolant, leaks (internal or external), clogged radiator, bad thermostat, cooling fans not running, etc.
