My battery went dead shortly after air-bag light started blinking

You'll need to have this checked out by a dealership. It sounds like there is a short somewhere in your airbag sensor system which is drawing current and caused the battery to die. It could be one of the belt tensioners, we saw a lot of them go out on Chrysler products.
