Ford Contour jerking

I have a 96 for contour it jerks while accelerating and while mantaining a steady speed. sometime i can pull over and turn the car off wait a min. and go and it will stop. normally starts when the car is warmed up good. sometimes the jerks are hard and sudden

I WOULD BEGIN WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL FILTER!

change spark plugs and wires, had same problem a while back
