cooling system malfunction or worse?

I had a leaking Expansion tank so I replaces it.  Now I am getting sputtering and steaming coming from around the Expansion tank cap if I just drive around the block.  Do I have an Expansion tank problem or a blown head gasket?

Sounds like the exhaust gas from a blown headgasket are getting into the cooling system.
