Connect the battery straight to each fan to see if it works. No worries about polarity. If it doesn’t work, replace fan motor.

I have a manual just for the 320i 80-83 years.and it has informed me to never set more than the time it takes to reach normal engine temp during the cold to warm time period .any more is damaging to this engine.the electric fan is made to come on only during times when during driving the belt fan is not enough to cool to normal temps.like when pulling a long hill Orin slow traffic on hot days.be Shure the shroud is in place.this yr 1980-83 is newtorius for over heating during ideling
