What could be wrong with my headlights?

A few days ago the headlight on the passenger side started turning  off while
driving.  I thought it needed to be replaced, but it would randomly turn back
on. Now both headlights are going off while driving and I have to turn the
switch off and back on to get them to work.

You have a bad connection somewhere , perhaps a disconnect , pull the connection and see if it's all corroded , clean it up . Could be the switch , things need to be tested .
