i have a 2011 ford flex when it sits for a while makes noise like its starving for
oil. noise only last for 2 seconds. there is no performance issues other than the
noise. no engine lights..

The lifters are leaking down, the noise is bothersome but doesn't affect performance or durability. If it bothers you you might want to treat it with Slick 50 I've heard some good things about it.
