REPAIR COSTS?

Asked by Amiee27 Apr 19, 2014 at 01:40 AM about the 2010 Ford Fiesta

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I drive a 2010 Ford Fiesta, the other day a ute cut in front of me and hit my passenger
side view mirror. The mirror is okay, and the light blinker hasn't come off, but only part of
the light is working. The backing that keeps everything together has flown off with impact
though, and the light just dangles now. Everything seems to be okay except part of the
light doesn't work and there is no backing. This probably doesn't make sense because I
have no idea how to word things. But roughly how much would it cost to be fixed ($AUD)?

Like Tom said it's hard to tell from the picture. If you're the one paying then look for a used one on ebay or something like that. Mirrors are expensive. Even used.

Both Boho and John are right. Side door mirrors are fairly expensive to begin with, probably because manufacturers know how frequently they end up being damaged or knocked off. That and they are a requirement in most countries and states in order to pass annual inspection. That being said, even the most basic mirrors cost way more than they should because of this. The more complicated, heated, power, integrated turn indicators, tilt down reverse, whatever the cost increases dramatically. I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra (I'm in the USA) and recently had a similar situation. It's a basic power unit that's all. I clipped a left rear taillight with my passenger side mirror. No damage to my cover, the mirror or the power feature. Bought new, the plate (which snapped off as a pedestrian safety feature) needed to affix the whole thing back on the door. That plate with labor to install it was listed at about USD 300.00. Keep in mind this was just to attach a working mirror to the door. I was lucky as I knew people and got the whole thing done, lasts and labor for 135.00 and I needed none if the mirror parts. Buy used if you can, but make very sure all needed parts are the right part number. It's easy to get them mixed up, and ending with a box full of wing sided parts. Good luck!
