All the way to top. One way to tell is pull spark plug and stick a screwdriver in hole and you will feel the piston without having to put the screwdriver way in. The piston at TDC means Top dead center. If you have a helper have them turn the engine by hand with a breaker bar on the crank pulley back and forth just a little but until you feel the screwdriver move. The only problem is that you have to determine if it is TDC on exhaust or compression stroke. But you can not time it. The ECU 'tells' the spark when to fire from cam pos sensor, crank position sensor

Ok, let's back up. What engine? 2.4L I4 or 3.5L V6? We need to determine that you are on #1 ...The 4 cylinder #1 is the right, passenger side. The V6 is front, right, passenger side. http://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/3-5-liter-v6-chrysler-firing-order-2/

My computer is acting up I can't post and if you would, please pass this along to reddog, the top of my list of question activity: I got that information on what engines were offered for a 2010 Dodge Journey from Edmunds.com but if it a 3.3L transverse #1 is the rear, firewall side, right, passenger side
