how do i get the gear shift on my 2010 impala to stop locking up

The thing just wants to stop you from damaging the transmission....it wants to see the key in before you'll be able to change out of park for example...it wants your foot on the brake combined with NO rpms at the VSS for you to be able to engage reverse....sure you could simply pull the connector for this switch if you were inside the center column...but that'd be irresponsible~
